- [Heavy vehicle productivity reform](https://www.transporting.nz/case-study/heavy-vehicle-productivity-reform/): NZTA have undertaken a series of consultations in the past year on Land Transport Rule reform to improve heavy vehicle productivity. That has culminated in a series of Rule amendments which will come into effect from August.
- [Pekatahi Bridge (SH2)](https://www.transporting.nz/case-study/pekatahi-bridge-sh2/): When NZTA advised that its National Land Transport Programme budget was oversubscribed, the Pekatahi Bridge on State Highway 2 was not prioritised for upgrade. This meant the 3,000 vehicles that used the 100-year old bridge daily would need to continue relying on ongoing temporary repairs despite the bone-juddering drive damaging vehicles and freight.
- [Fernhill Bridge (Ngaruroro River, SH50)](https://www.transporting.nz/case-study/fernhill-bridge-ngaruroro-river-sh50/): Weight restrictions on the deteriorating Fernhill Bridge on State Highway 50 left some trucks undertaking a 40 kilometre detour around it, several times a day. 
- [Toll-free Tararua](https://www.transporting.nz/case-study/toll-free-tararua/): Local communities and freight operators alike were aghast when the Government considered tolling the 11.5km Manawatū-Tararua highway between Ashhurst and Woodville.
- [Transport sector pathway to residence during critical skill shortage](https://www.transporting.nz/case-study/transport-sector-pathway-to-residence-during-critical-skill-shortage/): After Covid, the road freight sector was experiencing a serious skills shortage. There just weren’t enough Class 4 and 5 drivers to get the freight task done. Transporting New Zealand reported a shortage of over 2,000 truck drivers nationwide, prompting the Government to bring in a Transport Work to Residence pathway in 2022. This one-off boost of skilled drivers proved successful in addressing some of the road freight industry’s critical workforce gaps.

He has worked at the Land Transport Safety Authority (NZ Transport Agency), at the Ministry of Transport and was with Shell and Z Energy for more than a decade with several roles in areas including logistics, business development and health and safety.

He joins us from the Ministry of Transport, having worked across a range of government agencies throughout his career.

One of the older ones in the office of 16 years, she’s seen many changes with many titles over time.

- [Jim Crouchley](https://www.transporting.nz/our-people/jim-crouchley/): Jim has been involved directly in the transport industry since early 1990 when he purchased a one truck freight business following an apprenticeship and several years in the motor industry working with cars, trucks, and tractors. He brings broad experience as a freight business owner and manager, along with strong practical knowledge in areas such as vehicle compliance and permitting for HPMV vehicles.
- [Lindsay Calvi-Freeman](https://www.transporting.nz/our-people/lindsay-calvi-freeman/): Lindsay works with transport operators across the lower and central North Island, helping members get real value from Transporting New Zealand and making sure the freight industry’s perspective is heard on key transport issues. A big part of his role is understanding the commercial realities transport businesses face and helping members through practical advice, business tools, commercial deals, and industry events that bring operators together.
- [Darryn Faulkner](https://www.transporting.nz/our-people/darryn-faulkner/): Darryn joined Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand as Membership Manager for the Upper North Island in August 2026. Based in Tauranga, he works closely with members across the region and supports the logging sector.

- [Greg Pert](https://www.transporting.nz/our-people/greg-pert/): Greg is the managing director and owner of Tauranga-based Tranzliquid, a leading provider of bulk petroleum logistics - primarily fuel, liquid asphalts, and specialised container cartage services throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. As well as being a board member at Transporting New Zealand, Greg is an advisory member of the Petroleum Industry Transport Safety Forum. He began in the industry more than 37 years ago as an owner operator, starting his career with Freightways Bulk Services. He is also a member of the Western BOP Infrastructure Forum and is a past NRC member from 1996 to 2022.
- [Scott Johnstone](https://www.transporting.nz/our-people/scott-johnstone/): Scott is the general manager of Brenics Ltd, a family-owned transport business specialising in food-grade linehaul road transport and storage solutions. After pursuing a career in agriculture, he switched to the family business during university.
- [Brett Hamilton](https://www.transporting.nz/our-people/brett-hamilton/): Brett has been in the transport industry for 21 years – his entire working career. His first decade was spent as a qualified diesel technician, however Brett had ambitions to operate a heavy transport fleet. In 2011, Brett joined Open Country Dairy as an owner driver operating a modern milk collection tanker, from there he has grown his own fleet at the same time managing Southern Milk Transport for Open Country.
